GPIB not loading in MAX 5.0 on Windows XP SP2

GPIB is not loading even though my device is connected. While opening MAX, I received the following unexpected error: "The nipalsys.dll plug-in caused an exception in the CmxSysExpertManager::InitializeExpert function in the NIMax process." I hit the continue button and found that GPIB is not listed under devices. I looked up some information about the error, but did not find a correlation between the two. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

I found this article on our website that refers to this exception and it points to this other article as a solution for it, basically it’s referenced to the PAE or Physical Address Extension and describes the solution for Windows XP and Windows 7.
