HP 6050A GPIB Control

Solved!
Go to solution

I've attempted to write LabVIEW code to communicate with an HP 6050A Electronic Load. Unfortunately, the GPIB is not listed under the VISA Session drop-down menu. I've tried using a USB-GPIB and the onboard card. I am also using the library supplied by NI to control the instrument. Attached is a screenshot of the problem that occurs with USB to GPIB and direct GPIB card to Instrument. I've tried the USB-GPIB on a different instrument and the GPIB was listed. Any suggestions on how-to fix it, would be appreciated.

I can see from your MAX screenshot that it hasn't been detected using the USB-GPIB controller. If the HP is turned on and GPIB cable hooked up what happens when you select "Scan for instruments" in MAX?  You can monitor the communication by using NI Spy.

Now Using LabVIEW 2019SP1 and TestStand 2019

GovBOB,

I fixed the problem by setting the primary address to 1. I used your method of looking at the traffic on the GPIB port to figure out nothing was getting there.

thank you very much,

George
