Have anybody tried to have NI488.2 version 2.0 and NI-Device (v1.3) on the same computer? The NI-device does not work if NI488 GPIB driver (v2.0) installed but works if v1.6 of GPIB driver installed.

OS Win2000
NI488.2 GPIB driver version 2.0
NIDevice driver version 1.3

No matter which is installed first, I can see GPIB interface from MAX utility. Usually, if NI488.2 card works in NIDevice mode, the GPIB interface should not be visible from MAX. Anybody has any idea?

Hi,

What GPIB interfaces are you using? (PCI-GPIB, USB-GPIB-B, etc). Which of those are you planning on using with NI-Device and NI-488.2?

It has to do with the way both drivers look for the hardware they manage.

Hi, I need clarify my question a little bit.

There is only one PCI-GPIB card on the scope. I want to use it as a device at one time and NI488.2 GPIB controller at the other time. So my intention is to disconnect cable, switch inf files, and reboot. It seems work for lower version of NI488.2 (v1.6) and NIDevice (v1.3), but does not work for the latest NI488.2 (2.0) and NIDevice (v1.3).

On document ID:2ICE47YY, my understanding is that this document works for a PC having 2+ NI488.2 cards (like 2+ PCI-GPIB cards installed). You want to use one of them as a device and other one as the GPIB controller. If that is true, this document is not applicable to my case.

I know this is a weird requirement, but we decide to go this way.
