How can I export my MAX configuration to another system?

I have several PXI systems that I would like to have configured the same in MAX. Is it possible to export the MAX settings of one system to another identical system?

Than you for the resonse and the link. the information was very useful, but may not cover all of aspects I am try to configuration control. An item that was not discussed in the above link is that of the instrument addressing. I want to be able to establish multiple standalone platforms with identical instrument names. addressing, and settings. With thid-party instruments it is not always possible to manually set the names and address in MAX. Is there a file or database in MAX that can be copied from one system and loaded into another system?

Hi japy9711,

If you assign VISA aliases to your 3rd party devices, you should be able to export them in MAX. You can use these VISA aliases to refer to your devices in LabVIEW. When you import the configuration on your target PC it should be able to find the devices and assign the aliases accordingly. How are you communicating with your devices?

Could you post a screenshot of your configuration in MAX (left hand pane trees expanded) so that we can have a better idea of which configurations you are trying to export? I have posted screenshots below of the import and export screens.

Hello,

I want to replace the max configuration with a " * . nce " file (in my case test.nce), and this with labview.
I saw that there was a tool for doing that but i don't know what i have to fill in "destination"
I tried serveral options

"My system"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32"
"C:\WINDOWS\system"
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX"
......

but non of them seems to work.

Someone who has allready succeeded in doing this ?

Thanks in advance.

Lone Gunman,

Try using "system://localhost" as your destination and your file past as the source to inport to your local machine.

Thx MXI Master for the tip,

But i still get an error, the strange thing about it is, that i tried the vi at home and it works perfect. Here I get an error, the thing is here I have no admin rights (comp. pol.) maybee that is what goes wrong.

I'll keep you informed.

Hi Lone Gunman,

This is probably because you do not have admin priviledges. Let us know what you find!
