How do i control syringe pump hardware with labview?

I have a mechanicaal syringe pump. It is 10 years old and is relatively out dated. It can be controlled by hyperterminal using ASCII commands. However, ideally i want to control it using labview. Labview does not recognise thia hardware. The syringe pump is a hamilton product(PSD/2). Is there any driver available that can make labview communicate with my pump?(i use a USB connection from pump to PC)

Thanks for any help

What exactly do you mean by LabVIEW not recognizing the hardware? The only thing that would be recognized is the com port and this is done by VISA. Open MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) and see if the com port is listed there. If it is, then you can try using one of the shipping examples for serial communication.

Help>Find Examples.

It sounds like you haven't taken any of the basic classes or much of anything else if you aren't familiar with the menus. Try some of the free tutorials.
