How to Read Data from PID controller using Labview 6.0

I wanted to know how to read data from a PID controller using RS-232 port with Labview 6.0
and how to acquire data from a serial port.

Hi PG Student,

If you are just starting communication with your controller via RS-232, I would first test out serial port communication simply by doing a Serial Loopback Test.

Once you've verified that the port works, you can start running some simple programs in LabVIEW to read/write using the serial port. Serial example programs can be found under Help->Find Examples.... Select the Browse tab, then Hardware Input and Output->Serial. Try the LabVIEW<->Serial.vi first. Take a look at the block diagram to see more about data can be written to and read from a serial port.
