could one install 98 first, then install 488.2 for WIN 98 then do an up-grade to W2K <-- This works for some devices .. how about the HP drivers that have been mentioned in other posts here in these forums ?? is it possible to extract all the files from the W98 install disk and force the install manually ?
When you upgrade to Windows 2000, you replace the kernel (among other things), which is the system component that the driver interacts with. I don't think it would work.
You do have one other option, although it may not be the best. National Instruments does have an upgrade program. You can upgrade your board from a GPIB-PCII/IIA to a PCI-GPIB board for only $250. This is just about 50% off (std price is $495). Not only will you be able to use your board under Windows 2000/XP, but you can take advantage of the increased transfer rates.
