I'm having problems installing my PCI-GPIB+ card on Windows 2000 - Is it supported? The system constantly crashes when I try to open measurement and automation center.

When I try to install the PCI-GPIB+ card, using Windows 2000, the system does not recongnize the card - even though the latest NI-488.2 software is installed. When I run the automation and measurement center it simply crashes my machine, when it tries to communicate with the card. I also have a PCI-6071E card installed on the same machine that is functioning properly. Is the PCI-GPIB+ card supported under Windows 2000? Is there a way to resolve this problem. When I try to "Add Hardware" using the "Getting Started" utility in the NI-488.2 suite, it lets me select the PCI-GPIB+ card, and when I click
install it does nothing - the "Hardware Manager" sees the device as an "Unknown" PCI device, although it does resolve the name as "PCI-GPIB".

Hi,

The PCI-GPIB+ analyzer functionality is not supported in Windows 2000. The board is not supported with NI-488.2 2.0 in Windows 2000. With the NI-488.2 version 1.7 you can use the controller functionality of this board. Refer to the following link:

DiegoF,

Thank you for your response.

I understand that the analyzer functionality is not supported under W2000. However, the NI software should still be able to load the device drivers for the PCI-GPIB+ to use as a controller - this is not the case with my system. It doesn't recognize the card as part of the NI family of DAQ products, and is not functioning even as a controller - The NI-488.2 should be able to support the controller function, since I am using version 1.7. Do you have any idea what this problem might be from?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi,

It is most likely a resource conflict, although the Device manager does not show any. I just tried installing a PCI-GPIB+ on windows 2000 with NI-488.2 1.7. Initially I was having the same problem. What I did was removed all the boards (just left the network card). I reinstalled the driver and rebooted without any of the boards. I then plugged in the PCI-GPIB+ and it was properly recognized.

I nothing seems to work (removing other cards, changing slots), try it in another computer (preferably with another OS) just to verify if the board is working properly.

DiegoF.
