IVI engine 2.0 (and PXI-5411)

I'm attempting to use my PXI-5411 in LabVIEW 6i. As I understand it, I need the NI-FGEN package installed. The newest version of this package (2.0) requires IVI Engine 2.0 to be installed. I have the IVI Compliance Package 2.0, but the NI-FGEN installation routine just stops on a message saying:

VI Engine version 2.0 or higher is required by NI-FGEN. You must exit this installer, install IVI, and then proceed with the NI-FGEN installation.

What can I do to fix this (or is there a better way to get my PXI-5411 working)?

Hello,

It appears like the IVI Compliance Package you is not installed correctly. Try to run a repair installation of it.

However, it should be noted that FGEN 2.0 only works on LabVIEW 6.1 and up, so you won't be able to use it with your version of LabVIEW.

Hi Joel,

I think you need to make sure that you indeed have the latest IVI Engine 2.0 by checking the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\IVI\CurrentVersion) and version of ivi.dll (Windows>System32).
Maybe you should rerun the IVI Compliance Package installer in the repair and/or modify mode from Add/Remove Programs, and then try to install NI-FGEN again.

Thanks, that's exactly what I ended up doing.

I ended up looking in the IVI Compliance Package 2.0's extracted installer folders and found IVIEngine.msi, or something like that. After I ran that, I had no more problems.
