Is NI488 compatible with MACOS CLASSIC?

In the year or so that this discussion has been going on, has anyone been able to cobble together a solution to drivers for USB and Firewire (IEEE 1394) NI boards for OSX? Any further developments?

We are about to scale up some hardware to supply research partners with a bioreactor we designed. The bioreactor was designed around the PCI version and we would like to move to USB or Firewire. If this can't be done with OSX, we will probably have to look for another hardware/software solution. Is NI paying any attention to the Mac community?

NI,

To me portability is an issue too, we really like the portable Apple computers, and to drag along another box is not an option. It is bad enough as it is with the multimeters, oscilloscopes, loggers, power-boxes etc. This speaks for the GPIB-USB solution, a cable, a driver, and that's it.

As for the MacOS X this is the future in the Apple world, and Apple is big in education. And afaik the only OS developer with clear focus on educational solutions.
