Is it neccesary ti initialize the GPIB when using VISA

I was wondering if you still have to initialize the GPIB if you are communicating with it through VISA commands instead of the given GPIB commands such as GPIB read/write.

VISA will handle all of the GPIB initialization for you. There is no need to use the ib-style calls to do the initialization when you use VISA.
