Is it possible to connect an HPIB instrument to the an existing NI GPIB system

I am trying to connect an older HP4145B to my system of instruments using GPIB. The 4145, however, says that it uses HPIB do I need an additional card for HPIB or is there a way to plug this instrment into the GPIB network somehow. The connectors already fit.

It should work with no modifications. As far as I've seen there is no difference.

Hi Rick,

HPIB was HP's version of GPIB. If your HPIB device says it can handle commands it should work.
