Is my GPIB-USB interface repairable?

We have had problems in the past installing this GPIB-USB-B interface.  Now it will not install as a GPIB device anymore.
The computer only recognizes the cypress USB chip when I try to plug it into a computer running XP, and gives an error message : EEPROM missing, in the install dialog.
Is there anything you can do to fix these, or do I have an expensive paperweight?

Hey Whiteneon,

Can you take a look at your Device Manager, and see what it's showing up as? To get to the device manager, just right click on My Computer->Properties->Hardware Tab->Device Manager. Try to see what the GPIB-USB is showing up as. Sometimes devices get wrongly associated with devices, and the way to fix it, is right click on the device, and choose "Uninstall"

When you restart your computer, can you let me know if this is able to fix the issue.

Regards,

Nick D.

The unit installs  as: cypress EZ-USB (2235)   EEPROM missing
in the USB controller slot.  Uninstalling it just causes the computer to reinstall it the same way after restarting.

I think the EEPROM on the board must have been damaged.

How do I get it repaired?

Thanks!

Hey Whiteneon,

If you would like to get it repaired, just go to http://www.ni.com/support/ and create a new service request, and one of our applications engineer will help you get going in the right direction for an RMA.
