Is there any possible way of converting a non-IVI standard driver to IVI compliant instrument driver?

Suppose, if a driver given for an instrument (say RS232) which is non-IVI standard, is there any possible way of coverting this into IVI compliant driver? If so, please provide the details of doing that?

And why do you want IVI when you can have a perfectly debuggable driver in pure G?

The instruments may be DC Power supply or ARINC. The drivers that are written for this instruments may not be an IVI compliant. So how can I make that driver to IVI standard?
