Keithley 6485 picoammeter

I am recieving and ERROR 113 on the Picoammeters screen and can not even get the instruement assist to work. I am using a GPIB cable and Setup the module according to the instruction. I was originally using an older Keithley Model 486. I was told the same command codes could be used but they dont seem to be working...point in the right direction to get this running would be great

Does the picoammeter always have the error on the screen or only when you are attempting to communicate via GPIB? If it is only when you are using GPIB, are you getting any errors when you send commands? What language, or product are you using to send GPIB commands.

You need to go into the menu on the instrument and switch it from SCPI to DDC mode. The 486 is very old (pre SCPI days) and its command set is called DDC mode. The factory default for the 6485 is SCPI mode.
