The GPIB settings are rather simple - on/off and pick a channel. It is on and responds to *IDN?
When set to channel 1, a GPIB scan over the LAN shows all the instruments. If I pick a different channel (different from all the other GPIB devices of course), it does not show up on the scan with the VISA interactive control like the others. I have disconnected all other instruments as well and swtiched with known working cables.
....as I was typing I noticed something. In MAX, I enter the LAN Device Name: gpib,0,8 and press validate.
There it is.....
Then, the refresh on the VISA interactive control shows the Keithley on GPIB channel 8 through the TCPIP interface. Not sure why I have to manually type that in the MAX. Good news is that it is connected, the bad news is that I don't know why. The other instruments don't need any special help. Should I worry any further? If I change the channels or add other instruments, they seems to be found automatically - the Keithley needs a little bump I guess.
