Hi Nathan,

"Configure Edge Trigger" calls "Transfer External To Ext Or Ext10.vi".  When selecting External coupling, "Transfer External To Ext Or Ext10.vi" uses the trigger level to decide whether the source should be EXT or EXT10.  This output is used when calling "Configure Trigger Select.vi", which is the VI  that actually sets the trigger source.

In my last post I suggested that this is a workable approach, but I believe now that the driver shouldn't make this detemination, since the reason a user might select Ext10 is because they are using a /10 probe.  THere are other considerations as well, such as the scope series in use. I will write to my contact at NI about their thoughts on this topic.

Best Regards,
Alan

Hello Alan,
Thanks for pointing that out.  When I just searched for the commands, I did not find the "Transfer External To Ext Or Ext10.vi" with the logic that is choosing which Ext to use based on the trigger level.  That VI is called by 9 out of the 11 polymorphic instances of the Configure Trigger VI, so changing it without changing the behavior of exisiting applications might be challenging.  Do you think that we should just add Ext10 to the available trigger sources for the Configure Trigger VIs and document the use cases for each one?

Thanks,

NathanT
