I’m looking for a working example using the NI-DCPower LabVIEW drivers with a remote PXI Real Time controller. I can get the niDCPower Initialize.vi to work without errors but any subsequent calls within the same target VI to functions within the niDCPower library return an error, “Invalid session handle”. The LabVIEW examples use IVI Session instrument handles instead of VISA Session handles which is typically found in RT projects. I’m using NI-DCPower 1.3.1 with a PXI-4130 in my RT chassis.

Hello Todd,
For NI Modular Instruments, you will need to use the NI-DAQmx name for the device (Dev1), not the NI-VISA name for the device (PXI1Slot8).
Cheers,

Nathan,
The NI-DAQmx name for my PXI-4130 DC Power Supply card located on my remote PXI RT target is “PXI1Slot8”, not “Dev1”. If I open MAX and connect to the remote system, listed under the Devices and Interfaces, NI-DAQmx Devices, my card is listed as, NI PXI-4130: “PXI1Slot8”. This should be the correct name and it appears in the resource name control of the niDCPower Initialize.vi.
This problem may be related to me using LabVIEW 9 Beta release and has been posted to that forum as well.

Hi Todd,
Since this issue is currently being addressed by R&D, through another medium, we are going to ask all communication be done through a single medium to prevent duplicating any work.
Thank you for choosing National Instruments.

Is there supposed to be a reference to that other medium? I'm still curious about the solution, and your redirection is not helpful (maybe it was in the moment, but not for all time).
