No supported device found (for USB-to-USB oscilloscope)

Dear all,

I am currently connecting a Yokogawa Oscillocope (DL1640) to Windows 2000 via USB to USB port. I have installed the instrument driver and device driver. Under MAX, I can see the USB connection under Device.

However, when I went through the tutorial to create a Analog Input in LabVIEW 7.1, there was a message showing "No supported device found".

Should I change the connection to Serial (Windows) to USB (Oscilloscope), OR is there any solution to this?

Million thanks in advance.

Regards,

soongwm

What tutorial are you talking about? There are literally hundreds of different tutorials available so you need to provide the link to the exact one you are using.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

It is the tutorial from "Chapter 4: Acquiring Data and Communicating with Instruments" from LabVIEW 7 Express Manual.

Well, it's been many years since 7.0/7.1 and I don't have that.

The connection to the device should be a VISA Resource Name control and you would click on the little arrow on the right to select the USB scope 9assuming it's a USBTMC instrument). Perhaps you should attach your VI.

NI-DAQ has absolutely nothing at all to do with a USB scope. NI-DAQ is only for NI DAQ devices and NI-DAQ is obsolete and you should skip anything to do with it and just use DAQmx.

I see. Sorry that I am a total newcomer to LabVIEW.

So can I still plug in the oscilloscope and use LabVIEW to set up a program to take measurement with the oscilloscope?

Sorry if I confused you before this but I would like to add that I don't have any data acquisition hardware from National Instruments. I merely plugged in the oscilloscope directly into the USB port of the PC. Could that be a problem?

Yes, you can take measurements with the scope if you have an instrument driver for it or if you have a manual and want to use VISA Write/Read functions to communicate.

Yes, I have installed the instrument driver obtained from NI. I will continue to give it a try again.

So by judging from the pictures, are the PC and oscilloscope now "seeing" each other?
