I'm using a PCI-8433/4 serial board to send and receive data from some laser scanners and I wrote an application in C that uses the Windows API to access the serial ports.
The problem is that when there are no scanners connected, the PCI-8433/4 doesn't seem to timeout while executing ReadFile. I ran the same application with two boards from different manufacturers and it worked fine.
When the scanners are connected I have no problems. Do you have any ideas?
I've attached the complete output of Portmon. With the other boards I get "TIMEOUT" as a result to "IRP_MJ_READ".

PS: I've installed "NI-Serial for Windows, version 3.5.1" on Windows XP and I'm using RS-422 to connect to the scanners.
