I have a P70360 Stepper Driver connected to a NI Stepper Motor. When I connect it to power, a green status light turns on.
I would like to configure the driver using the software rather than the DIP switches. I downloaded the P7000 GUI/Firmware from the CD that came with the driver. I connected the driver to the computer using a serial connector. I setup the COM1 settings with the settings from the manual.
When I pull up the P7000 Tools, it can not find the driver.
How do I configure the driver? If I have to use the DIP switches, how do I test that its working before connecting it to a NI UMI board which connects to a NI Motion card?

Hello Random,
According to the KB linked below, you should be able to configure the driver using both options ( switches and software), can you tell me how did you installed the software / drivers? Do you received any error numbers?

I don't get any error messages. I installed the P7000 Tools from the CD that came with the driver.
I did manage to get the DIP switches to work. It is suggested that I use the P7000 Tools, so I would still like to know if there is a way to use them.

Hi Random,
Are you able to see the device if you configure the dip switches as outline on page 7 of this manual? It details the location of the dip switches for using the P7000 tools software.
Thanks,
Kira T
