PCMCIA GPIB VISA Resource Problems

I am developing a Labview application that uses some old drivers.  The drivers use a VISA call to write the GPIB instrument.  The laptop that this application is going to be used on the NI-VISA does not recognize the GPIB PCMCIA+ as a VISA resource.  I updated the run-time engine, the GPIB drivers, NI-VISA, and even NI-DAQmx on this laptop to try and eliminate any possible software issues.  But the computer is still not recognizing the GPIB as a VISA resource.  What else can I do to get the computer to recognize this as a VISA resource?

Hello HITester:

Can you provide a little more information. What is the GPIB PCMCIA+ being recognized as or is it being recognized at all?

After a lot of troubleshooting I finally figured it out.  The computer was recognizing the PCMCIA GPIB+ card but the thing that finally clued me in to the problem was that the NI-VISA wasn't just not recognizing the GPIB port but it was also not recognizing the RS232 serial ports as well.  All in all no ports were being recognized.  Upgrading didn't fix the problem.  I had to completely uninstall the NI-VISA and then reinstall it.  I restarted the computer and everything was working fine
