Pc Says driver is not installed

I went through the entire installation procedure for the gpib card I can recognize it using the ni software, but when I go into device manager it says that "The Drivers For this Device Are Not Installed"   Code 28

Using win98 SE
AT-GPIB/TNT PnP

Cant seem to get the drivers installed or find anything that tells me where they are located for manual installation.

I have been reading through the support forums some ore and have stumbled upon this....http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/comprob/95/notseen.htm...which is apparently the configuration troubleshooting guide...I have followed through these instructions and everything works to the point were it wants a driver for the device it won't find one on its own and I don't know where the driver is located????
Thanks for any help

I got a similar problem.

I got a PXI 8422 serial RS232 card and a PXI 8423 serial RS485 card in my system.

It has been working for almost 5 years. Suddenly the other day, the system told me that i has found new hardware. I could see that it was the two serial card's.

Then I startet the wisard to install the driver, but windows tell me tha it can't find any driver for the card.

I have diabled the card's and tryed to install the recent driver (ver. 1.8) and pluged the cards back in the system, but it gave the same result.

The questions is

1. Why did the driver disapear in the first placeRobot Mad?

2. why can't windows find the new driver :mansad:?

My system is: Windows 2000
                       Labview 6.1
                       PXI rack 1045

best regards

Hello,

For GPIB:

You may not have the correct version of NI-488.2 installed.  Uninstall the version you currently have, and try installing the version noted in the following document for your Hardware and OS: (be careful to note the name of your hardware precisely, and install the driver noted for that hardware)

That should give you a happy installation!

For Serial:

You will need two installs: 1). NI-Serial and 2). NI-VISA.  You can install the latest versions supporting your hardware at:

Be sure to read the readme files before installing to check the list of supported hardware against your hardware.  I see that you already tried the 1.8 install, but perhaps you can do the following, and then try again:

1. Uninstall NI-Serial and NI-VISA.
2. Install NI-Serial and NI-VISA (latest versions supporting your hardware)
3. Delete the interfaces for your serial hardware in Device Manager
4. "Scan for Hardware Changes" in device manager to redetect your serial hardware.

It should find NI-Serial appropriately as the driver and install your serial hardware (as far as windows is concerned).

If either of you continue to have trouble, definitely repost!

Best Regards,

JLS
