Make sure to save your settings before trying to use the interactive control:

Thank you for the reply. We did save, but unfortunately the problem remains.

You mention the problem remains but you had mentioned two errors. Saving the VISA Server Security settings would be expected to rectify the 0xBFFF00A7 error but may not impact the timeout. Once we can connect with the VISA resource without the "remote machine does not exist" error, we can address the timeout error. Did saving your settings have any impact on the 0xBFFF00A7 error?
If not, we can look into the connectivity of the two devices. Can you temporarily disable any software and/or hardware firewalls between the host and RT Target? Perhaps the correct ports are not open. If you can communicate with the target when the software firewalls are disabled, then we will want to make sure the propper ports are open per this white paper:

Thanks for your reply. Even by saving the settings the 0xBFFF00A7 problem remains. We have disabled the software Firewall of the Computer. There shouldn't be any hardware Firewall (we normally use a LAN Network to connect PXI to the PC, so it could be that there is a hardware Firewall, but now we tried also with the direct Ethernet connection PXI-PC).
But maybe it's not because of the ports, because with an oszilloscope connected to the PXI (with the PXI connected through LAN to the PC) we can use VISA Interactive Control without any problems. In that case we access to the Oszilloscope Input/Outputs through MAX-> Open VISA Testpanel or by selecting localhost in VISA I.C. and doubleklick on the USB::INSTR Device (still not by selecting the machine because of the 0xBFFF00A7 error).
Do maybe have another idea?
Thanks
Best wishes

Can you make sure VISA Server is running on the target? Right above the Security tab in VISA Options is a VISA Server tab which should give you info on whether the server is started or not (and if it's configured to run on boot).

please excuse the long time without response.
The VISA server seems not to be running, as i only can select the 'start server now' button on the security tab. But then a new error as shown in the screenshot occurs. I opened the port 3537 in the firewall...
But when I plug a monitor directly on the PXi controller it says 'NI-VISA Server 15.0 started succesfully'.
Best regards

Ah sorry, I forgot that the start/stop server buttons are only for Windows systems. Based on your screenshot, it looks like you were looking at the VISA options for your PC instead of the PXI controller when you saw that error, which explains why the buttons are selectable. At any rate, if the console output of the target is showing that VISA Server started successfully that’s good news. You shouldn’t have to start the server on the PC (client) side.
Another thing to check – I saw you had VISA 15.0 installed to the target. Do you have the same version installed on the host? If not, can you try making the versions match between the two systems?

Both are Version 15.0 and for my understanding it should be the same, because the version on the controller was installed by the PC (though the the entrys are not exactly the same (screenshot))
To be sure I reinstalled NI-VISA on the controller (The screenshot was taken after the reinstallation). But the Error (0xBFFF00A7) still occurs in the VISA interactive control, when I try to select the controller as machine.

Hello
I have exactly tha same problem. Does anyone has other suggestions? Visa Version is 16.0.0 and Max Version is also 16.
On the RT Controller is also Visa 16.0.0. I attached few pictures.
