Problems with GPIB-USB-HS with Thorlabs ITC502 device

I have problem with connecting an GPIB-USB-HS GPIB controller (SN:187965B-01, Rev:1.5) to remote controll a Thorlabs ITC502 laser diode driver. I've installed properly the GPIB-USB-HS device and all sems to work well. When I connected it to the ITC502, MAX listed the device properly with GPIB0 Instrument0 Primary address 2, but the *IDN? identification of the device failed (due to timeout). I attepted to comunicate (from MAX, *IDN?\n) and I got iberr=EABO and status bits Err, TIMO, RQS and CMPL are set.

I tried the GPIB-USB-HS with other instruments and the problem with comunication didn't appear.

I tried the Thorlabs ITC502 with an USB->GPIB controller (Agilent 82357A) I borrowed and the comunication was OK and the device worked well.

Please, could you help/assist to solve the problem.

The manual of ITC502 is attached

Hi Hlava,

In the manual it shows that the device is a 488.2 device, so it should respond to "*IDN?". It's very strange that you can see the device, but aren't getting a response to the ID query. Have you tried any other commands? Another thing that would be helpful would be a spy capture while trying to communicate with the device.
