Problems with longterm readout of ENET/100

Hello,

I'm using a GPIB/ENET 100 device to readout a Lakeshore 218 monitor to my computer. After about 20 minutes of good operation, the Lakeshore simply puts out "0" for any reading. This requires a hard reboot of either the ENET/100 or my computer. I've tried swapping the lakeshore devices, the ENET/100, and I've used both DHCP and a static IP address to configure the port. Furthermore, the device will respond to a ""*IDN?" query, just not the readout. Any help would be appreciated...

Hi nethernet,

The manual for your Lakeshore 218 contains a list of all supported commands (http://www.lakeshore.com/pdf_files/instruments/218_Manual.pdf, page 6-17). It seems like the device may have some kind of data buffer that is not being cleared out, causing the data to read 0 after a period of time when the buffer becomes full. The next time the Lakeshore device enters the 0 data state, I suggest trying the *CLS command from the manual to clear out all commands but not reset the device. Then try to assert whatever command you use for data acquisition. Does the device still return 0? Does it still respond to *IDN commands?
