RS-232 15 pin help

I have a flow meter with and RS-232 15 pin connection, but I don't have a 15 pin connection on my DAQ. Is there an easy way to convert this to a 9 pin or 25 pin connection? Would it be possible to convert it to USB, or another standard? Sorry if this is in the wrong section or if it doesn't make sense, I'm new to instrument control.

Sorry, but much of your question does not make sense. Just because you have a DB-15 connector, that does not automatically mean you have an RS-232 communication type. If it was RS-232, then you would not connect it to a DAQ device. You would connect it to a com port on your pc and it would be simple to convert to a 9 or 25 pin connector.

Please provide some details, such as the manual, about the 15 pin port on your instrument. Without that vital piece of information, it would just be guessing.

I apologize for not providing enough specifics. I attached PDFs of the quick start guide, which has the wiring definitions for the pinout, as well as the manual for the flow controller (I discovered over the weekend that it is a flow controller, not just a meter).

The flow controller is set up to take a 4-20 mA Set Signal, and the Output Signal as 0-5 VDC or 4-20 mA. The controller also came with a power supply with fly leads to wire into the connection cable.

I think I'm starting to get the picture here. Depending on which signal type I decide to use, I only need to wire the pins for that connection type and then isolate and insulate the unused wires. Then, it should be relatively easy to wire the pinout to a 9-pin COM port, correct?

Yes, it appears you can do either analog control or RS-232.
