Retrieve data from HP 5180A Waveform Recorder via 82357B USB/GPIB Interface

    Hi all,

I'm using an old waveform recorder model from HP, the 5180A, to measure data. I would like to connect the instrument to my notebook to read the values and save them. I have to use the 82357B USB/GPIB Interface to connect the PC to the instrument, but I'm not able to see the instrument with my computer.

I use MAX to configure the connection. I've installed the driver for the USB/GPIB interface, and the computer see it  (pic), but I don't see the instrument.

I've searched for IVI drivers, and other drivers related to the instrument, but it is a very old model, not yet supported. I've just found a labVIEW driver (link).

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way I can connect the instrument to my notebook? Can i retrieve the data in another way?

I'm sorry to bother you with trivial questions but I'm new to this field.

Thanks for all your effort.

Use either VISA Interactive Control under the Tools menu or the VISA uitility that is part of the Agilent software. You cannot use the NI GPIB functions with an Agilent controller. If the driver uses GPIB funcitons, replace them with the VISA equivalents and try that.
