SR830 Lock-In does not show up on NI MAX

As said, I am new to this whole business. Would I be able to receive and send data through LabVIEW when I have it connected through the serial port? I haven't tried that yet, as I don't have the cable handy.

Yes

But you are getting ahead of yourself.

Make sure you can communicate to the instrument through RS232 using NI-MAX first.
