Serial Communication and linear stage control

I was wondering if anyone could give me a hand with a problem I'm having. I'm testing a serial card we just purchased (NI 8432/2) to control a motorized linear stage. How do I go about sending out a DC signal through the serial ports to the stage to test that the communication is working properly?

You don't send any sort of DC signal. You would send whatever command is in the manual. You can test communication in any terminal emulation program such as Hyperterminal or use MAX. Make sure the com settings match at both ends (pc and the stage) and that you are using the correc type of serial cable.
