Serial ports not working when saved for pervious version

I have a lib.vi that was created in 6.0.2 given to customer. We upgraded to 6.1 made some changes in the vi and saved for pervious. The Bytes at serial port.vi is passing a 0 and not the Serial number from the scanner reading a QR Code. What do I need to do to make this work without having to always use the 6.0.2 to make changes and improvements for the customer?

Are you using VISA? Perhaps you need to update the VISA version on the
target computer to match the version you are currently running on your
development machine under 6.1

I am running the 2.6 Visa, I un-installed and re-installed the 2.5 that I was running. It didn't help. This morning I opened the 6.0.2 LabVIEW and opened my program before changes with the 6.1 to redo my changes in 6.0.2 and save for customer but it didn't work so That is when I un-installed the 2.6. The 6.1 still works with the Visa 2.5.

Hmmm, maybe you should upgrade the target computer with the latest LabVIEW
6.1 runtime engine and forget about trying to make your app backward
compatable.
