There is no "visa options" under Tools in MAX

Hello,

I have tried to install and uninstall several times NI-VISA 4.2 (the full version) as well as NI-VISA 4.1. Apart from the fact that it takes 4-5 minutes (on a P4 2.4GHz) for MAX to load after the installation, the "VISA Options" under Tools do not show up.

Ultimate goal is to activate Tulip so as to have a 3rd party GPIB card working with NI-VISA.

Previously I had tried installing first NI-488.2 drivers and then NI-VISA, at which point "VISA Options" whould show up under Tools but when selected the actual page would be blank.

Right now, no GPIB driver is installed (neither NI-488.2 nor the card's).

Uninstalling is performed through MSIBlast so that no registry values are left. Also, the PC had earlier an Agilent VISA version which I have uninstalled.

I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Jim

Hello Jim:

What operating system are you running? From the looks of it, it sounds like something got corrupted somewhere.

Hi Roland,

I actually figured the problem out. It seems that some components of Agilent VISA had not been completely uninstalled. This was causing MAX to hang up at the splash screen. I'm not sure why. I uninstalled these components and now everything is working fine.

Thanks,

Jim
