USB to RS-232

Solved!
Go to solution

my connection configure are little complicated: I use laptop Latitude E6510 (which has no serial port) set in docking station. I use USB cable connection docking station and NI USB to RS-232 (2 port) device. then use 9-pin cable connect between converter and Keithley 2702. I can operate instrument in multi-switch scan without any problem. But when I use MAX to search the instrument which always get error -9996.
My question is: Does the USB to serial convert device have to connect PC directly?

I don't know what you mean by ' use MAX to search the instrument'. That error seems to be instrument specific.

If you can command the instrument to perform an operation, I would think the conveyer is working.

Hi

There is no problem with the serial port or converter when it works. A usb connection in the docking station is a connection in the machine itself for the software. I have also an e6510 and see no problem.

MAX will not find the k2700 becasue MAX does not scan the serial ports.
