USB0 alias

Hi

I am using a Agilent N5765A power supply and communicates with USB.

Because my LabView code should be moveable to multiple systems have

I defined the alias name USB0 in MAX for the power supply

(instead of the long individual name like USB0::xxxx::xxxx::US08H063219L)

My problem starts when I move the WinXP computer to another system

or just change the power supply to another individual of same model.

I can see the new Agilent N5765A in MAX.  But I am not allowed to

set alias to USB0 for this new instrument. Because USB0 is locked to

the first power supply.

The problem is that MAX only shows the connected power supply,

Because I am unable to see the first pwr supply that is disconnected,

will I be unable to set or remove alias for the first power supply.

Someone may say, reconnect the first power supply and change the alias.

But it is not allways I have the first power supply reachable. So there must be

some way to remove the first instrument or at least its alias, via MAX.

How....?

Uses:

TestStand 3.5

LabView 8.5.1

In MAX, expand Software and select NI-VISA. Click the VISA Options tab. Under My System>General Settings, select Aliases. Edit, remove, rename as desired.
