Upgrade to NI488.2 3.1.2 encounters an error

Hello,

yesterday I ran NI Update Service which suggested to update my old GPIB installation to version 3.1.2.

During installation the following error message was displayed:

gpib.png

After clicking OK the installation continued...

(Win XP SP3)

The installation folder (N:\NI_20131203_1752) was on a network drive.

Is this the usual experience or should I be worried?

Hello Wolfgang,

no, of course this is not usual.

Does your software work now?

And, by network drive, do you mean that you install your software "from" or "to" your network drive?

Hello Chris,

thanks for your reply!

Upgrading GPIB also results in upgraded MAX etc. so many parameters change at the same time and a 1:1 comparison is not possible. My software is still running (it is not using GPIB...). MAX also seems to work after the first time after upgrade it crashed when scanning for hardware (report was sent to NI).

No, all the measurement software is on the local computer, only the installation files downloaded by NI Update are on a network drive (N:\NI_20131203_1752)

Hello Wolfgang,

OK if the software works, it does not seem to be a serious problem.

Can you see the new NI 488.2 3.1.2 in the software section in MAX?

One thing you could try is to repair the NI 488.2 installation in the Windows system control, "programs and features" tool.

But at this point, I think I can not tell you more, since there is no concrete misbehaviour now.

Have a nice day,

best regards!
