Use FP-TC-120 Fieldpoint with FPGA

I have a system running LabVIEW 8.2, RT Target, CompactRIO cRIO-9151, FPGA and NI Vision.   I am now trying to connect a 8-channel FP-TC-120 thermocouple unit that has an FP-1000 RS-232 interface.   This unit uses FieldPoint drivers.  Can someone tell me how I can connect this unit to my system to run real-time experiments?  Thanks

Hi Edwin,

You may want to try using the same procedure as indicated in the following article (first part of the article) as it discusses how to connect an the FP-1000 to an RT target.

Connecting FP20xx to FP1000 using RS-232 and Simultaneously Connecting the FP1000 to FP1001 using RS-485

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

Best regards,

Steven

Hi Edwin,

Please note that you will not be able to directly use FPGA to communicate with the serial port. You may need to use RT and Optomux commands.

Here is some information on Optomux:

1) How Do I Effectively Use the FieldPoint Optomux Commands?

2) Reading from an Analog Dual Channel module on a TB-10 using Optomux commands

Also, you may want to consider using the cRIO thermocouple module:

I hope this helps.
