VISA making me switch to 32 bit kernel for Snow Leopard?

I am running into a problem where I go to install NI-VISA 4.6.2 in Snow Leopard and it gives me an error saying that I need to switch to a 32 bit version of the kernel to install it.  I find this absurd because all macs since the Core 2 Duo have a 64 bit mode that Snow Leopard will automatically switch into.  I thought that 32 bit versions will automatically run for programs that don't have a 64 bit version.  What is going on and how can I fix this?

Thanks!

Sorry everyone.  I didn't realize that you have an option on bootup of booting in 64 or 32 bit and I didn't realize that it was switched.  Just hold down either 3 2 or 6 4 to switch.
