What exactly does "Scan for Instruments" send on the bus?

Using Labview our measuring instrument intermittently returns "status byte error". After running "scan for Instruments" in Measurement and Automation, the error is gone.  What exactly does "Scan for Instruments" send on the GP-IB bus?  Measurment & Automation 3.1.1.3004.

I think it does a serial poll on all addresse but I'm not sure.
Anyhow that is what you should do to remove the error by yuorself
