Windows cannot recognize Agilent 34410A via USB.

Hello.

I have an Agilent 34410A that I am trying to work with using LabView via USB, but I keep getting a "USB Device Not Recognized". Device Manager just shows "Unknown Device".

I have installed VISA, and to my knowledge there are no USB drivers for this instrument.

Under "Configuring the USB Interface" in the manual, it states: "There is nothing to configure on your instrument for a USB connection. Just connect the instrument to your PC using the USB 2.0 cable included with the instrument."

Has anyone else had this issue?

Windows 7

LabView 2010

VISA 5.1

Thanks.

There should be a USBTMC driver from Agilent. This needs to be installed for windows to recognize it. What software from Agilent did you install? Anything? Their I/O Libraries? Did you ask Agilent? It's their instrument and not being seen from windows device manager is not a LabVIEW or NI problem.

Is the USB port on the instrument enabled?

NYC,

Yes, it is enabled on the instrument.

Dennis,

I will contact Agilent. I wrote here first because people here are usually a lot more responsive and informative than Agilent.

Thanks.

And what about my question regarding their IO Libraries? Install that and try to see if it's recognized.

With VISA installed, it should install USBTMC drivers with it. I have a 34411A on my bench and it works with USB, I haven't installed Agilent's drivers (that i remember...).

I just use ethernet though, lets me run tests on other computers without having to move the equipment around.
