acquiring signal from TDS 2024 throough Rs 232 port

Dear Forum
Sorry I am writing after quite a long time. But still i am not getting anything from my scope TDS 2024 though I have tried all the suggestion. I think there is compatibility issue. I need help about following
1. I have Lab biew Ver 7.1. is it compatible with TDS 2024?
2. What visa version i require to run my application.?
3. example developed in Lab view version 7.1 for TDS 2024.
4.if i download the driver fro IDnet; the driver is available for TDS 2024 but the application have been developed in Lab View ver    8.0 or above. so the modification in the example required to be done.
5. steps to follow .
thank you

1. Yes, 7.1 is compatible. The driver was first written in 2002 according to the download page.

2. Any version of VISA that you have will work.

3. ?

4. The driver is available in 7.0 and 8.0. There are no modifications required.

Do you get any errors when you run the Getting Started VI? Have you configured the serial port on the instrument to be what is described on the Initialize VI's front panel? Have you tried talking to the scope with a program such as Hyperterminal? Have you verified that you have the right type of serial cable? I believe you need a null-modem type.

You downloaded the 8.0 version instead of the 7.0 one. Just click on the link below the LabVIEW 7.0 text.

I am trying to communicate with a TDS-2024 using the serial port.  I have not been able to get it to work with Labview or through HyperTerminal, trying many different setting combinations ranging from the factory defaults to reducing the baud rate.    Any advice?

Make sure you have the correct cable. There are 2 types - null modem and straight through. Use an ohmmeter to determine what you have and compare that to what the manual says you are supposed to be using.
