bfff0012 error

I have seen this issue a couple of times now and can't narrow done the issue. Hope some one can shed some light on it.

If a VB6 program is run from within the VB ide it runs the first time ok. If the user exits the code (all visa sessions are closed) and then they run the same code again a BFFF0012 error ( invalid resource )is generated on the viOpen. See attached NI-SPY log.

To get the program to run again correctly they have to quit VB6 and launch it again. If they make a exe out of the VB6 code then it runs/exits and runs again ok.

I have seen this with NT4 and Windows 2000. If we uninstall VISA 3.01 and go back to VISA 2.6 the problem goes away.

You might want to try to first upgrade to NI-VISA 3.2. We have fixed a lot of issues since 2.6.

Hey cymrieg,

Also, try reducing your program to something simple like a *idn? write followed by a read. If that has problems try the same thing on a different machine if possible.

Let me know what you find out.

VISA 3.2 works fine. Lucky none of our test machines are running 9x as 3.2 doesn't support them. Thanks

Hi all,

i m trying to locate tektronix RSA3303B (having tekvisa) through MAX through VISA TCP/IP. While autodetecting the device in MAX, the ip address of the instrument is shown as "searching 1#(192.168.10.150 OEM-F954241B429). But after the search was complete, no device was shown on the list. And when i m trying to locate the instrument manually , while validation error bfff0012 is displayed. Please help ASAP.
