If they are UART-based serial devices you can program them via LabVIEW either by using an already-written "driver" (if available) or by creating your own (if you know the communication protocol).
For RS-485, you'll need an RS-485 COM port. NI offers several hardware options including our latest high-performance 843x series for PCI and PXI.
