Hi Sebastian,
Are you using LabVIEW 32-bit or 64-bit on your Windows 7 64-bit computer. Are there 64-bit drivers posted by Newport? If so, did you try to install them and see an error?

Make sure to do the 32bit installation even if you are using 64bit windows 7. My operating system prefers that all programs that are specifically 32bit be installed in a folder called C:\program files (x86)\ rather than the usual C:\program files\, so install the software in the C:\program files (x86)\ folder or other similar folder if possible.
The power meter software comes with multiple versions of Labview VIs. I suggest starting with the VIs for Labview 8.x as these are the VIs that work on my machine.
Good luck!

Hi,
I work with Labview 64 bits on a Windows 7 64 bits computer.
I can't find drivers that work with Windows 7 64 bits...
If someone has tried that, please reply and help me (us in fact!) 😉
Thanks...
Séb

Hi Seb,
The best option would probably be to contact Newport support to see if they have a driver available.

Hi all,
For future reference, I thought I'd post some information here that might even be applicable to other Newport power meters. You can download the driver install software for x86 and x64 for this power meter here; it is important to have the correct drivers for your version of LabView (32-bit with 32-bit, 64-bit with 64-bit,) as mentioned. However, once you have installed these drivers, you will also have installed the driver vis from Newport. I stumbled upon the vis when browsing the installation files. Mine are located in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Newport\Newport Power Meter Application\Samples\1918 - 2936 Family\LabVIEW\LabVIEW 2010\Command VIs
I believe there is an example vi one directory up. You need to use a vi to initialize the meter, and then feed the "device key" and parameters to the other sub-vis. They are otherwise straightforward to use.
Best of luck in the future.
