gpib serial lockup

I have a GPIB - Serial converter (485/422) box that is having issues at power up. The power to the GPIB device (Agilent 8563 EC) Spectrum Analyzer gets powered up at the same time as the GPIB - Serial Converter box, however the GPIB device is much slower to boot up. I've noticed that when the GPIB-Serial converter box is powered up it sends some command (either through hardware or software) to set the Spectrum Analyzer into Remote mode to communicate. Without this setup the converter box does not pass the serial data to the Spectrum analyzer (GPIB). Is there a way to send a command from the PC to configure the GPIB - Serial Converter box to perform a reset?

Yes-

send "*IFC"  this is a interface clear that resets the bus to a known state.

Hey Ute1,

The Agilent device should move to remote mode whenever a command is received over the GPIB.  Try just sending another command to switch the device into Remote mode. If this doesn't work you may need to contact Agilent.

Thanks,
