Did you mean:

gpib serial number

I'm working on NT 4.0 with a HP pci-gpib board.
I have seen that it's possible to work with Labview and hp board by following these steps:
- Uninstall HP-visa
- Install hp-sicl
- install ni-visa 3.0

I have done all these steps, but my gpib board doesn't appears in MAX (I have selected "tulip" dll). When trying to add it I get the following error in event of NT :
"The PCI-GPIB hardware driver completed the init phase with STATUS_SUCCESS but there were no Device Objects created. This usually indicates that you need to run the GPIB Configuration Utility (located in the Control Panel) and configure your GPIB interface(s) correctly. Be sure that you have selected the correct Serial Number in the "GPIB Board" configuration dialog box. "

I'm
unable to select the serial number in the gpib utility in the control panel because list is disabled.

Does anybody can help me ?
many thanks in advance.

Hey Christian,

If NI-VISA was the last one you installed, you need to make sure you enable the tulip passport in NI-VISA as mentioned in the second method of this KB.

I hope this helps out.

In that case, I would recommend trying to set up the board on a Windows 2k/xp system with NI-VISA 3.2. In many cases BIOS settings and resource conflicts can make it very difficult to setup hardware on a NT system, because of its lack of a device manager. Then follow the steps in the KB that I posted previously.

If you are still having trouble, I would recommend that you get a NI PCI-GPIB device. It doesn't require any third party driver and it is supported by National Instruments. You just install the NI-488.2 driver, install the board, boot the computer and the device will automatically show up in MAX and work with LabVIEW.

Hello All,

I follow the discussion forum and I found the link very explicit to install HP PCI-GPIB.

Have you try the two methods?
Have you try to install the last NI-VISA driver?

Waiting for your reply.
