instrument not found by MAX but communicate with vi.... wierd?

Hi ppl,

im quite new in LABView and MAX and i have this problem :

i connect a Powermeasure (ZES LMG 310) between my Inverter (MMC 440) and Motor and try to communicate with the ZES through GPIB. I have GPIB-USB-A with the newest driver (2.2 for XP, found at ni site)

When i start my MAX and try to scan instrument... it said Instrument not found. Though the instrument is ON and the cable connection should be okay, since max found my other instrument (HP 34401A).

I also checked the addresses, they dont have the same address.

After i do the scan instrument,and not found. I try to start my program (just a simple one with open visa, and write read close). In my VISA resource name i can choose the GPIB address from the ZES instrument now. (if i dont do the scan at MAX, it didnt show up)

Now i can communicate with my Powermeasure instrument. Is it wierd?

after that.. i do the scan instrument again, and max find it now.

The problem is... i have to do this all the time, if the GPIB connection gone. (like after restart instrument or pc)

Do anyone had this problem before? how can i solve this problem?

NB: The GPIB connection with the ZES is always gone, after i start my motor.
