my comouter hangs when i try to expolre devices and interfaces in MAX or open any input or output vi from labview's library

every time i try to access my inteface device i get the blue screen or the computer hangs. this is not an installation probelm since i have been using my gpib device for a while and this seems to have happened out of the blue!

Hello,

Have you installed another NI software product on your machine? It could be a problem with a new version of NI-VISA or MAX. Keep in mind that LabVIEW installs VISA and MAX and NI-DAQ install MAX. If you suspect something like this, go to the following website and download the newest version of NI-VISA. You must first remove your old version of VISA.
