problem with GPIB configuration

When setting the configuration for GPIB card
the Serial number on the hardware setting is grey out?

The number should still be there. The configuration program should pick up the serial number from the firmware on the GPIB card. The Serial Number box in the configuration should be greyed out because you cannot change the serial number. The serial number is given at manufacture of the card. If you think that the number in the configuration program is wrong, then you need to talk to your supplier.

I found knowledge base (KB) entries that talks about your question. If you go to ni.com >> Support >> search (option 3) select Knowledge base from the dropdown list >> and type the following "grey serial gpib" in the search box, you will get it.
