"Note: Look up the Instrument Wizard" Where????

The text on the front panel of the serial I/O vi says "Note: Look up the Instrument Wizard
for the correct resource name for
your machine." I just want to do simple IO on com 1. Where is this Wizard?????

Hi,

It most likely refers to the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). A link to MAX should be placed on your desktop.

MAX has an entry called "Device and interfaces". Under this label you'll find the ports. When you click on COM1, for example, on the right side of the explorer you'll see the properties of this resource, which includes the VISA resource name (ASRL1::INSTR).
