Hi becidea,

Thank you for sharing this information with us. I'm not familiar with Keithley 182. I would recommend contacting their technical support for further clarification. In general, "reading relative" usually means that the instrument is reading two different sources and measuring the difference.

I hope this helps.

Hi Josh,

Thank you for answering. I have known "reading relative" as as you connect both and of the probes, you need to measure "0 V". this is now always happen because of some situations. For this reason you are pushing "reading relative" button. this makes your measurement "0 V" and takes this value as initial or referans value. That is when you measure your system's value, you will reach exact value. But unfortunately I am not sure and there is some very importent point need to be cared such as, when we need to turn on, when we need to turn off, when to start and so on...

Hi becidea,

As Josh mentioned, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your product in order to determine the exact functionality of the "reading relative" option.  They should know how they designed the function to work, as well as the uses they created it for.  Any information we have is only based on assumptions, which does not guarentee an accurate answer.
